Frequently Asked Questions

How do I play?

Drag the falling 3-block piece left or right to position it. Tap the piece to cycle the block order. Swipe down to slam-drop. Line up three or more matching blocks in any direction — horizontal, vertical, or diagonal — to trigger an attack.

When the MP bar fills, stockpile an ultimate token. Fire ultimates with a two-finger swipe up.

What does each block color do?

Four block types, four effects:

  • Strike (red): 30 damage per block
  • Vitality (blue): 20 healing per block
  • Spirit (purple): 7 MP per block (charges your ultimate)
  • Tactics (gold): Sends 1 debris block to your opponent's board

Each character has an affinity — matching their element gives a 1.2× bonus.

Local multiplayer isn't finding my friend.

Check that both devices have:

  • Wi-Fi AND Bluetooth turned on (both help)
  • Local Network permission granted for Stack Fighters (Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network)
  • No active VPN
  • Are on the same Wi-Fi network OR within Bluetooth range

One player picks HOST LOCAL, the other picks JOIN LOCAL. They should pair within a few seconds.

Online multiplayer says "Sign in to Game Center."

Online matchmaking uses Apple's Game Center. Go to Settings → Game Center on your iPhone and sign in with your Apple ID. Then re-launch Stack Fighters.

If you prefer not to use Game Center, you can still play Story Mode, VS AI, and Local PvP — all of those work offline.

The AI is too hard. / too easy.

In Story Mode the first four fights are Easy and the final fight is Medium. If you want a bigger challenge, use the VS AI mode from the title screen, where you pick the difficulty directly (Easy / Medium / Hard).

How do ultimates work?

Match Spirit blocks to fill the MP bar. When it fills, it converts into an ultimate token (you can stockpile up to two). Two-finger swipe up to unleash the token. Each character's ultimate is unique — Phraya's punch-throws 150 flat damage; Zoya's sandstorm scrambles your opponent's board; Alaric's Iron Wall heals 250 HP and grants a damage shield; etc.

I lost my story progress.

Story progress is stored locally on your device. Reinstalling the app or signing out of iCloud can reset it. Unfortunately there's no cloud sync (yet) — but you can replay each character's story quickly, and Game Center still tracks your completion history across sessions.

Game Center achievement didn't unlock.

Achievements are reported when you meet their trigger (e.g. win a match, chain 5, complete a story). If you earned one while offline, it's cached locally and reports to Apple's servers the next time you launch the app with Game Center signed in. Check the trophy button on the title screen to view your progress.

Can I rematch my opponent?

Yes! After a multiplayer match ends, both players tap the REMATCH button on the game-over screen. As soon as both sides confirm, you bounce back to the character select to fight again without having to re-pair.

The app crashed. What now?

The app automatically reports anonymous crash data via Firebase Crashlytics — we'll see it and try to fix. If the crash is reproducible, please also email us at the address above with:

  • What you were doing when it crashed
  • Your iPhone model (e.g. iPhone 17 Pro)
  • Your iOS version (Settings → General → About → Software Version)
Is there a way to turn off the music?

Yes — the speaker icon in the top-right of the title screen toggles music. Your choice persists across launches.

When will the Android / Mac / PC version ship?

iOS-only for now. This is a solo indie project and porting is a real lift. If a lot of folks ask, maybe Android gets added later!
