How to play

Type to fight. Each enemy carries a word. Type it correctly to destroy the enemy before it reaches you.
Lock on. Start typing an enemy's first letter to target it, or tap an enemy to switch targets.
Build the meter. Clean hits charge your ultimate. When it's ready, tap your character to unleash the purge — it clears the screen and refills your health.
Boss duels. When a boss winds up an attack, a short counter word flashes — type it in time to parry and stagger them. Or just keep hammering their word.
Clear to unlock. Beat a chapter's boss to unlock the next chapter.

FAQ

The first keystroke feels slow.

Dead Script raises the keyboard the instant you press START so it's warm before play. If you're testing in the iOS Simulator, the first on-screen tap is laggy there in a way it isn't on a real device — try it on hardware. If it persists on your device, email us your model and iOS version.

How do I switch between the iOS keyboard and the in-game one?

On the title screen, under KEYBOARD, choose Native (the iOS system keyboard) or Typewriter (the in-game keys). Your choice is remembered.

A chapter is locked. How do I open it?

Chapters unlock in order — clear a chapter's boss to open the next one. Chapter I (The Morgue) is always available.

It's too hard / too easy.

Pick Easy, Medium or Hard on the title screen before you start. Easy slows the spawn rate and makes boss counters optional.

Will my progress sync between devices?

Progress (unlocked chapters and best scores) is stored locally on your device and does not sync across devices in this version.

What data does the app collect?

Anonymous gameplay analytics and crash diagnostics, via Google Firebase, to help us fix bugs and improve the game. No account, no personal profile, and nothing is sold. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Can I get a refund?

Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple. Request a refund through reportaproblem.apple.com.
