Privacy Policy
Effective: June 1, 2026 · Applies to the Dead Script app for iOS.
This policy explains what information Dead Script ("the app", "we", "us") collects, why, and your choices. We've tried to keep it short and honest. We do not require an account, we do not ask for your name or email, and we never sell your data.
What we collect
To fix crashes and understand how the game is played, the app uses Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to collect a limited, pseudonymous set of data:
- Gameplay analytics — anonymous events such as starting a run, reaching or defeating a boss, clearing a chapter, using the ultimate, and game-over, along with their parameters (e.g. chapter, difficulty, score, duration). This helps us balance difficulty and improve the game.
- Crash & diagnostic data — if the app crashes, we receive a crash report: the stack trace, the app's recent in-game state (e.g. current chapter and difficulty), and basic device state at the time of the crash.
- Device & app info — a pseudonymous app-instance identifier generated by Firebase, plus device model, operating-system version, app version, language and region. This is standard technical information used to group analytics and crashes.
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, photos, precise location, health data, or the contents of what you type. The app does not display ads and does not track you across other apps or websites, so no App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown.
Data stored only on your device
Your best scores, unlocked chapters and settings (such as your keyboard and difficulty choices) are saved locally on your device and are not transmitted to us. Deleting the app removes them.
How the data is used
- To diagnose and fix bugs and crashes.
- To understand which chapters and difficulties players reach, so we can balance and improve the game.
- To monitor general app stability and performance.
We do not use this data to build a marketing profile of you, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
Who processes it
Analytics and crash data are processed on our behalf by Google as part of Firebase. Their handling of this data is governed by Google's privacy policy and Firebase's terms:
Data retention
Crash reports and aggregated analytics are retained for a limited period in line with Firebase's default retention settings (analytics data is retained for up to 14 months; crash data for up to 90 days), after which it is deleted or anonymized.
Children
Dead Script is a stylized horror game and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices & rights
- You can stop all further collection at any time by deleting the app.
- You may request access to, or deletion of, data associated with your device's app-instance identifier by emailing us — include the request details and we'll action it within 30 days.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights over your data. Email us to exercise them.
Security
Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we use reputable infrastructure (Google Firebase) and collect as little as possible.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
